Free math tutoring
For elementary school students
From high school students
SMASH is a free math tutoring service run by high school students in Los Angeles.
After recognizing the impact that the pandemic has had on the math education of elementary school children, we created SMASH to provide individualized help to students of all backgrounds.

We believe that access to educational services should not depend on a family's ability to pay, so at SMASH we offer our zoom tutoring sessions for free.

How it works
1. Let us know how we can help!
In the 'Schedule A Tutoring Session' form, there is a space to indicate which topic you would like your child to focus on with their volunteer tutor. You can choose from the list on the 'Topics' page, or give more specific instructions! Let us know if we can help with existing school work, or spend time reviewing a specific topic.
2. One of our volunteer tutors will prepare prior to the session.
After you indicate how we can help your child, we will connect the student with one of our volunteer tutors. The tutor will come prepared to help students with schoolwork or (if requested) to introduce practice problems in areas where the student needs more guidance.
3. We provide a free tutoring session.
Sessions are 30 minutes long and held over zoom. Tutors are happy to guide students through problems and answer any questions!
